Our VISION STATEMENT TPBC’s end-goal is to see...
EVERY MEMBER PASSIONATE FOR CHRIST & TOUCHING LIVES
through Growing in Christ, Serving Others &Winning Souls
Key Points:
“Every Member” The Church is the Body of Christ, and each and every believer is a vital member of this Body. We believe each and every individual can and should play an important role in the growth of the Body. Our desire is to see each and every member owning the vision and involving in making the vision becoming a reality.
“Passionate for Christ...” Our love for Christ is the foundation and motivation of all that we desire and do for Him - both individually and together as a church. We seek to enthrone Christ as our Lord, giving Him the pre-eminence in all things. Growing in love and passion for Christ is our constant pursuit and preoccupation because everything else flows from such a relationship.
“Touching Lives” T.O.U.C.H means Transforming Others Under Christ’s Hand. When lives are touched by Christ, they will also touch (impact) other lives for Christ. Both the individual lives and the group of people touched by Christ will naturally and supernaturally become His instruments in transforming other lives under His mighty Hand. The impacting (or touching) of lives happen both on a personal basis (as iron sharpens iron) and as a group, as love of Christ is shown through acts of love by the community of God’s people.
“Growing in Christ” Every member is to be growing in his or her personal walk with Christ. Everything else in the Christian life flows from such a relationship. The emphasis is on “growing” and not having “grown” in Christ – as spiritual growth is an on-going life-long process.
“Serving Others” Healthy spiritual growth is neither ego-centric nor individualistic, but communalistic – that is, the believer growing in the context of the community of God’s people and in return, using the gifts, abilities and talents God has given him or her to serve and edify the Body.
“Winning souls” imply that passion for the Lord should result in compassion for the lost and taking definite actions to reach out to them. “Winning” sees outreach not as a one-off action, but a process of persevering and patient tilling, sowing, watering before finally reaping.
Notes:
- The fact that “growing” and “serving” come after “winning” means receiving Christ is not the end but the start of a process of follow-up and nurturing by the “reaper” and the church.
The three elements represent three distinct essential aspects for holistic growth, namely
Growing in Christ: in respect to Christ (me + Christ)
Serving Others: In respect to Others (me + one another in church)
Winning Souls: In respect to the World (Me + Church and the world)
- The continuous tense (“ing”) implies that no one is to be stagnant. Growth is an ongoing process and we seek to help each member to move forward in his /her spiritual journey.
-
Finally, the ministry is about making disciples for Christ which is a process involving helping a new believer start on the life-long journey of growing in Christ, serving others & winning souls and repeating the same process in the new believer won to Christ.
